3 Cork Hill, Dame Street

You know when you have big expectation for a place, and everything goes wrong and wrong? That’s what happens yesterday, is a pity but I had to admit that this is not an Italian Restaurant; the only Italian thing was the music.
We had a reservation for two when we arrive the restaurant had enough free places but they ask us for a reservation fair enough, the bar tender was looking and looking for a place to sit us down, so finally he found one of the many empty places downstairs for us.
The service did start very well, we order the drinks in between looking at the menu, and the drinks didn’t arrive until we remind the waiter when the main course arrives.
I order spaghetti Carbonara, traditional Italian. You can find two options for this unique name ‘Carbonara’ the one made of egg, and the one made of cream, so I was not expecting in a Italian restaurant to have my Carbonara with cream, that is not Carbonara.
Carbonara is a traditional Italian pasta sauce. Its name comes from carbone, which is Italian for coal, and many believe the dish derives its name because it was popular among charcoal makers. Others believe, however, that the dish is called carbonara simply because of the black, freshly milled pepper that is used. The original Roman recipe is made from eggs, parmigiano reggiano, pecorino romano, guanciale (unsmoked pig cheeks), black pepper, and either strutto, olive oil or butter. Cream is not an ingredient in the original recipe, and is not generally used with pasta in central Italy.
My college order cannelloni, I have to say that the looks of the cannelloni it was like frozen one, he didn’t like, in my opinion the tomato sauce all spread between the spinach killed all the different flavors of his meal.
It was not a good experience for a restaurant, when we finish our main courses we were waiting 10/15 minutes for the desert menu, so I just look for it my self in the counter one of the many waiter that were working in the area come to me very surprise and ask me what was I looking for, so I explain that I was giving them another chance to make the dinner wrother (obviously I didn’t say that), just that I was looking for the menu.
I order Banoffee my favorite desert and David order Profiteroles, the Profiteroles where a little bit small but they were ok. My Banoffee it was made more than half of it of toffee so it was too sweet to really feel the differed flavors of banana, cream and biscuit.
My experience in this restaurant it was not wrother, the poor Food Quality, and bad service saws very bad management in this restaurant. I will not recommend this place.

I completely agree. The food wasn’t too bad for a take away, but when you sit down in a resturant and pay 15 euros for three rolls of cannelloni you expect them to be delicious… but they weren’t. I can say with no doubt that this restaurant is the worst I have made with Ruth and I don’t recommend it either.

So David told me you went to Steps of Rome yesterday. Great restaurant!. Once Gerlando told me he really loved this place and I must say I share his oppinion.
By the way, after reading your post about Toscana I am going to ban this place from my list of restaurants forever. Ruth, you are a great critic
